The Freehold Volunteer Fire Company was established on October 25th 1945 in order to preserve life and property, and to provide emergency support to the Hamlet of Freehold, NY and the surrounding area. Prior to 1945 the East Durham, NY Fire Company provided protection over the Hamlet of Freehold for the Town of Greenville, NY however due to an extensive territory the Freehold Volunteer Fire Company was founded by 62 original charter members.
On October 8 1948 the Freehold Volunteer Fire Company signed its first contract with the Town of Greenville, NY to officially provide the Hamlet of Freehold, NY and the surrounding area with fire protection services. In 1950 a 2 bay addition was built on the North side of the fire house to accommodate the growing amount of fire equipment and apparatus, and to create a separate community and event center.
The 3.62 Acre property owned and maintain in the heart of Freehold contains a baseball field open to the community, a rentable event hall and 5 bay engine house. The Engine house current homes 3 fire trucks and the Greene County Paramedics (https://greene-ems.com/).
